[Something had happened. He wasn't sure what, or how -- maybe god interference again? If so, why? Why was he being interfered with while trying to do what they wanted?

Nothing could be easy for him...

He'd tried shadow traveling back off the Argo again, to try to find Reyna and Coach Hedge again, but every time he tried it, it was like hitting a brick wall that made his head spin. Finally he hit the literal wall, both fists coming forward to pound on the wall. Just once, though, because after that once he realized that someone might have heard him. The people he hadn't wanted to be with most.

He was supposed to be away from them. Annabeth...Jason...Percy...

And now, without shadow travel, he'd have to find somewhere to hide or tell the others what had happened. What would they think? Some of them had already been doubtful of him leaving in the first place. He failed. He left Reyna, the statue, and Coach Hedge without their transporter, so now they'd have to figure out how to move it on their own. At least -- until he could figure out how he got back.

The area around him seemed to get darker even though it was dark already, and gods forbid whoever comes across him right now...]

[Leo didn't know how to feel. Everything that had happened the last few days...

It was a lot.

He was so glad to have Percy and Annabeth back. He had beat himself up so much about them falling into the Tartarus in the first place. But even with them back, even with them succeeding in closing the Doors to Death and being so close to beating Gaea and the Giants, he felt like something was missing.

Of course, he knew exactly what it was: his heart. He left it back on Ogygia, when he left Calypso. He tried to hide how upset he was about that, but he knew he couldn't fool all of them, not forever. Jason and Piper, especially. They knew him too well. Plus Hazel had already figured it out. And he knew at some point, one of them would want to talk about it. Things were calm, at least for the moment, so someone would try.

Which is exactly why he volunteered to take over watch on his own, sitting on the deck and watching the stars. It was a boring job, but at least he was alone. He wasn't doing too great at the whole keeping watch thing, though, having gotten lost in his own thoughts, wondering if Calypso was looking up at the stars and thinking of him....

But then Leo heard something and he snapped to attention, flailing and fumbling up onto his feet and putting his usual five pound hammer from his toolbelt.]

W-Who's there? [...Way to sound all strong and brave, Valdez.]

[trances]

[As if anger wasn't enough, when he heard Leo's voice, panic mixed in with that too. He wasn't ready to be found out yet...

So he did what he did best. He found himself a way to blend in with the shadows, though he cursed this mentally. If he could just hide, why couldn't he leave?

Leo was of course one of the people he didn't want to see. Considering how loud he was, with little to no filter, it was only a matter of time before the others knew. Hazel would've been more preferable though, because at least he knew she could keep a secret, or have some advice. Or -- even if he didn't like the thought -- could summon Arion. That'd be better than nothing...or hiding on the ship.

He steadied his breathing though, and his hands, and hoped that Leo wouldn't try to illuminate the corner he was in. Knowing his luck with shadows at the moment, they'd give him away immediately.

Still, even though he tried to calm himself down, he could only feel himself get tenser, even more angry. It wasn't fair, he thought, that this happened. But then again, it would've been too easy, to just volunteer to leave that way.]

[Leo may not have been the bravest of the bunch, but he knew he had to investigate whatever he heard. He didn't like it, but...he didn't want to wake anyone else up, either. Unless there was an actual issue, of course, then he'd have no choice.

Swallowing hard, Leo lit a flame in his free hand, inching forward, his eyes darting around, trying to take in anything and everything.]

Hello? I swear, if that's you Frank-- [long sigh.] You got me, okay? Now come out. [If it was a bad guy, wouldn't he know it already? Obviously it had to be someone he knew, playing a joke on him.

He hoped, anyway.]

[Well, Nico was probably the last person that Leo was expecting. But his own eyes were darting around, trying to find some sort of escape.

Before he could put any plans into action, though, the Argo jerked. Since he'd been thinking more on how to get away other than trying to keep his balance, he stumbles forward and into the light. He actually has to grab the side to keep from falling down.

There would've been more scrabbling to go find somewhere else to go, if he weren't so concerned with falling down.

Say something say something say something--]

Don't tell anyone.

[Leo immediately spun around, turning to face whatever fell before him--]

Ni--- [He started to shout in surprise, but between what Nico said and that look he was giving him, Leo shut his mouth quickly.

Or at least for a few seconds.]

Dude, what are you doing here?! [So he's following Nico's rules, and he's also lowering his voice as he moves in closer so his slight whispers can be heard by the other male. Even if Nico didn't want Leo to tell anyone else, Leo wanted an answer. Hadn't Nico left with Reyna and Coach Hedge? If he was back....did that mean something happened to them?]

[He couldn't have really expected Leo to stay quiet for that long.

At Leo's question, though, his expression darkens even more. He does realize that it's a normal question to ask, but since he doesn't even know, it prompts an irritable answer:]

I don't know. [It came out as a low growl, and he's straightening up now that he realizes the Argo's not going to attempt to fling him around anymore.] It wasn't my decision to come back.

[...Right. At that look, Leo remembers exactly why he didn't really have much to do with Nico while he was still on the ship. Definitely getting some hebe-geebe vibes from the guy.

The look on Leo's face as Nico speaks is one of concern, mixed in with some confusion and just a dash of fear. So far, he really didn't like what he was hearing.]

Wait-- so you just ended up here? [Cue a lot of frowns.] Why don't you just shadow travel back to where you were, then?

If I could do that, I wouldn't be here, would I? [He certainly wouldn't be here.] I can't do it. Not that I'm too tired to -- I just can't.

And right, okay, that was a pretty dumb question. He's full of those sometimes.

Apparently today is one of those days.]

Then--- what about Reyna and Coach Hedge? [They weren't seriously stuck in the middle of nowhere with basically a giant glowstick and monster attractor, without their shadow jumper, were they?]

Nico would point out that a lot of things Leo does are dumb but. Good thing it wasn't verbalized.]

I don't know. [It didn't look like they were here, were they? Still sounding tense there because Leo. Please.] You don't see them here, do you?

[The giant glowstick would've been pretty obvious if it had reappeared.]

All I know is that I'm here.

Good thing it wasn't, too, because Leo would have just made Nico's case in point. All Leo can really do is frown, because now...well, this is a problem.]

And let me guess, your shadow - [waves hands around] - stuff is currently not rechargable?

[WELL THIS SUCKED.] Sorry, dude, but...we really better wake somebody.

It's not a matter of it being rechargeable. I just can't do it at all right now. It's different.

[But at his next suggestion, he flinches slightly. No. Nonononono. He wasn't ready for that, yet.]
